CAPCOM and Spark Unlimited have announced the release of Lost Planet 3 out of nowhere and have let loose a very entertaining cinematic trailer for it, featuring Jim as he spends some quality time with a not so friendly giant Akrid (bug looking creature). The cinematic shows off some nice visuals as Jim’s Utility Rig is revealed through a huge mountain of ice and even has some humor in it as well. In Lost Planet 3, you return to the same hellish winter conditioned planet and will learn new things about it as well as its E.D.N. III Colony. The game will also have numerous multiplayer modes, with the single player much like Lost Planet 2 did, with you being able to play the game in co-op.
There is and always has been a following for the franchise as it is a unique mix of third person shooter, survival horror with different control schemes as well as different mechanics that can make anyone turn away at it. Lost Planet has always been a unique type of game that started with almost a cult like following and has grown since Lost Planet 2. I don’t think anyone truly knows what to expect with Lost Planet 3, until its release for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC, early next year (2013).
