Darksiders II – Loot and Skill Trees Trailer

Darksiders II - Skill Tree & Loot System

In Darksiders 2, where you play as Death, one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse, we get an updated loot system as well as more in depth skill trees. In the trailer below showcasing those features, it is explained that in the first Darksiders, the developers (Vigil Games) wanted to have these elements in the game but were not able to implement them in it, but with the sequel now they can. We first learned of this in the video interview I had with the community manager for the game at E3 2012 which you can check out here.

Darksiders II features two main skill trees; the Necromancer tree which gives you spells, magic, etc, while the Harbinger tree is all combat such as melee, in your face, tare you to shreds kind of tree. This is in addition to the more in depth leveling system combined with the loot making it much like an RPG where you can find items to change what you look like (armor), to different types of weapons, which may all be some of the same cosmetically but have different statistics that make them better, worse or come down to personal preference. Newly added are the ‘Possessed Weapons’ which level with you and that you will get which you can actually feed look that you don’t want into to make them better, almost as if you were augmenting them, making them the most powerful weapons in the game. The game will be available for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC on August 14th, 2012.
