Project x Zone Review

Project X Zone Review - Box Art
8.9 Overall Score
Story: 9/10
Replayability: 8/10
Gameplay: 9/10

Great combined story for the three companies combined I Combat is different and takes some getting used to but it's rewarding once you hit 90+ hits I Dialouge between characters is humorus and reminds us of the characters traits perfectly I Damage is limitless with your Limit break, pair units, solo unit summons and your own combos I

Project x Zone is available at game retailers and here at it’s our job to make sure gamers know what to pick up and what to leave at the store. Not your typical RPG the tactical, portable game Project x Zone features a wide array of characters from companies such as Capcom, Sega and Namco Bandai. Characters are paired in teams of two to start off with and some of our pairings include:

  1. Ryu and Ken
  2. Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield
  3. Lei-Lei and Frank West

Many more characters are waiting for you to add to your team and interact with.

Our story takes on the journey of several pair units as they try to figure out what’s happening to the world as a whole as well as investigate what’s the explanation for character appearances and disapearances, familiar faces you may remember and others who remember each other appear, the humor of this game captures each characters individuality as the game progresses and gets more serious the humor is still their to breathe light on the impeding doom.

Project X Zone - Montage

Our gameplay is similar to the tactical board style of Fire Emblem or Final Fantasy Tactics, once the battle starts though don’t think you’ll be staying put and giving your teams commands it’s up to your combo skills and button presses to get the job done. Using A to perform your basic attack pressing Left or Right on the D-Pad will perform different attacks some of which can cause wall bounces, stagger or keep enemies in place it’s up to the button presses and timing to get your combo meter up and that way you’ll gain more experience for uses such as either countering, defending or fully defending yourself from enemy attacks during their turn.

Once your experience reaches 100% or more you have the option of using your limit break by pressing the Y button in conjunction with your regular attacks.  When near other units you are able to call upon them during battle as an assist creating a barrage of attacks and dealing heavy damage, to call in your support unit you press the R button. Want even more damage? A solo unit during certain chapters can also be added to your party and to summon the solo unit you press the L button and during this three pronged attack you’ll be watching the HP lower faster from your enemy eventually reaching the KO.

Project X Zone Characters - Main Visual

My verdict of this game is to give it a look the demo is available and once your hooked on that the real game will be that much more enjoyable, this is a top handheld contender and is fun and unique while the action leaves us finding unique combos and button presses which adds to so much more playability and re-playablity, just imagine how much funner and easier a second playthrough can be once you master the first one.
