With Xbox One still behind in overall console sales, Microsoft is looking for different ways to advertise their new console while keeping its current customer base happy. One of the key things that sets the Xbox One apart from the PlayStation 4 is its game diversity and its lower selling price. However, Microsoft is still looking for ways to increase the sales of its consoles and exclusive games.

Out of all the games currently offered on the Xbox One, only three of the exclusive titles are appealing. This is not to say that other titles on the console are not worth buying, but is a personal opinion based off of what I desire to play. Those three titles being: Ryse: Son of Rome, Halo: Master Chief Collection, and Sunset Overdrive.

Now Microsoft is allowing for its Xbox One  Gold customers to play Sunset Overdrive for free this upcoming Saturday (11/22/14). The game will be available for 24 hours to try out, and all progress during that time will be saved in-case those who try out the game go out and buy it at a later time. All game modes will be available, however you must unlock them first. Also for those achievement hunters out there, any achievements unlocked during this time are yours to keep.

As a reminder most games are at least eight gigabytes (8GB) so be prepared for lengthy install times; it is best advised that you start downloading as soon as possible so around midnight of Saturday, so you can spend all day playing the game. The game will most likely get you hooked so if you do not already have it, expect the gamer inside you to crave to play more.

You must be an Xbox Live gold member to download the game and it is only available for twenty four hours, but have fun during that time and kill as many monster as you possibly can. Let us know in the comment section how many kills you get or your favorite moment from the game. Hope you all enjoy!

Pinpointing a specific way to attract a female audience to League of Legends can be rather difficult; however there are four great ways that League of Legends has already implemented in some manner that can attract a female demographic, such as: Lore, Character Development, Casual game types, and cute things.

Lore was once a key element to League of Legends in past years but not seems rather impertinent or non-existent. Summons’s lore has been downgraded to a bare minimum level. Without looking at the games history you would have no idea that summoners were even part of the game.  The lore in itself can be difficult to find, only a limited amount of lore can be found on the champions profile. For guys and girls alike, lore can be an awesome and interesting factor of the game and allowing for players to connect with characters on a deeper level. The champions are fighting for a cause they believe in, but for unknowing player the lore is a minimal to non-existent factor. During the Ascension event, Riot/ League of Legends introduced players to the Shurima lore through a series of trailers. Allow for players to help create lore for their favorite champions. If Riot continued to utilize ideas just like that, they could draw in more female gamers.

Character Development is another key way of drawing in a wider audience. An example of this was during the Ascension event we found out that Sivir was a descendant of Azir.  Riot would benefit by utilizing character relationships in the game to add a deeper element to the game. A good example of this would be the mini quest in summoner’s rift between Rengar and Kha Zix or Sejunai and Ashe.  Mini quests add a deeper element to the game by making players question why the quests are there, which ultimately brings them back to the champion’s lore. Character interaction such as Rumble and Tristana intrigue players and add a love element to the game. Another interesting potential idea is having the champions say different things inspired by the community. Imagine if the events in one game carried over to later games making summoner and champion decisions play a factor in character interaction.

Not everyone takes the game seriously; some people want to have fun. Sadly the League of Legends community does not assist players in always having a good time; there is no independent game mode for different type of players. The match making system can cause men and women to lose interest in the game. So by implementing a variety of casual game modes, certain players will have more fun with the game.

Some players want to have fun and be creative. A great way to draw creative male and female to the demographics is to allow them to influence the world around them. Creating a Lore mode could allow players to create new champion interactions and drive the game forward for other players: Such as mini quests, character buffs, or even stat differentials. The mode could be called Lore Story, where players can work and play in a sandbox environment allowing them to experience the lore and interact with it.

Finally who does not love cute things? From little old Gnar to the Pyro Maniac Annie, players just like a variety of cute. An example of this is the variety of skins offered for each champion. A large amount of the skins do not contribute to the game in itself and are only aesthetically pleasing. A variety of skins have similar styles, but do not cause champions to interact differently with one another. A great idea is to allow the interaction between champions to vary the interactions with one another based off of certain skins.

Also Riot/ League of Legends should introduce new forms of merchandise, a few articles of clothing and memorabilia are available outside of the game, but it is not all what the community wants. Creating more cute plushies would draw in more kids and female gamers and a variety of different clothing would help promote the brand.

In conclusion, by applying these ideas and concepts to the League of Legends brand, the female demographic would thrive and would also attract a younger audience to the game as well.  Finally who doesn’t want to have fun in some manner when they are playing a video game?

Special thanks to Amy Williams for her contribution

With Thanksgiving and Black Friday just around the corner, Riot has announced their plans for the League of Legends community during Thanksgiving weekend. The mention the different offers they will have available for Mystery gifts and select skins. Also they will be holding a double IP event. Below is the Announcement that Riot Games made earlier today:

“A pair of ne’erdowells are putting the squeeze on League of Legends. In the dead of night, they broke into the store and stole Hippalus’ most prized possessions (he really loves his socks). The two best detectives in the history of detecting are on the case but, to prevent further chaos, we’re giving in to their demands. These are dark days in League… kind of.

Here are their demands -

Double IP Weekend
From 00:01 PST November 28 through 23:59 PST November 30

Self Mystery Gifting
From 00:01 PST November 28 through 2359 PST December 1

Four days of 50% off sales

00:01 PST November 28 through 23:59 PST November 28

00:01 PST November 29 through 23:59 PST November 29

00:01 PST November 30 through 23:59 PST November 30

00:01 PST December 1 through 23:59 PST December 1

Super Ultra Mega Oversized (S.U.M.O) Bundle
All skins listed above for 60% off (champions are 50% off) in a Cho’Gath sized bundle
8,896 RP* (11,373 RP* if you need the champions)

We’re not sure why they chose these specific skins but, to keep them safe, we’re making all of them Legacy on December 2. They’ll go into the Skin Protection Program and reside in the Vault until it’s safe to come out, but in the meantime, keep an eye out for those dastardly villains.”

After the sale is over, the skins listed above will no longer be available for individual purpose, but will still be able to receive through mystery gifts. Eventually they will be released for purchase on special occasions, so snap them up before they are gone.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving

Hey boys and girls,

Sorry about the sudden disappearance, it seems like life kidnapped us for a few months.

So with Borderlands the Pre-Sequal just being released, we have news of a new Borderlands gaming coming out within the next year. A  game trailer was briefly shown at last years Video Game Awards ceremony, but now we have the first full length trailer for Tales from the Borderlands created by Tell Tale Games.

The trailer gives light to more information about the new characters and why they are on Pandora in the first place. The game will include characters from the previous games for characters to interact with, including Handsome Jack who at the beginning of the trailer explains where we are chronologically in the franchise. The game will have installments like the Popular Walking Dead Tell Tale game and will hopefully be better than that since it already has established characters to work with.

Cast

Dameon Clark will reprise his role as Handsome Jack

Laura Bailey will voice Fiona

Patrick Warburton  will voice Hugo Vasquez (Kronk)

Mortal Kombat, the legendary gaming franchise best known for it’s gratuitous violence and over the top gore, has always attracted legions of artists creating their own visions and expressions of Netherrealm Studio’s iconic characters. From costume designs and back stories to original songs and short films, the Mortal Kombat series is one of the most “fan arted” game around. Well good news for all of you, myself included, who are fans as Netherrealm Studios just launched the Mortal Kombat Kollective!

The Mortal Kombat Kollective is a place where fans can upload their own original content, youtube videos, sketches, Kosplay ( =D), songs, and pretty much anything that they create relevant to Mortal Kombat. Once uploaded, members of the Kreative team at Netherrealm Studios will actually look at it, might make it one of the featured works, and who knows what else. Maybe a sketch you make of Raiden in an original costume will get added to the next game. Say you make a song as a theme for a character, upload it to the Mortal Kombat Kollective and maybe it’ll get used at some point. They haven’t said anything about using fan’s art in the game, but I’d imagine that if it’s compelling enough, or if they like it enough, they would. I mean, why wouldn’t they.

Lord Raiden...

Destiny Patch 1.0.1

So far Destiny is pretty amazing. Between Bungie behind the development, who created the incredibly popular trilogy, Halo, and the pre-alpha, alpha, and public beta, not to mention the rest of the surrounding hype – Destiny is truly turning out to be the next big thing in gaming. However some developers get lucky even if only by a little when it comes to hit game franchises with all of them having a talented team behind them, but Bungie is a developer that truly stands apart as one of the few who truly have an amazingly talented team that goes beyond just the game development.

I am sure you could put others in this category such a Naughty Dog as well as some other veterans to the industry. Though this is just a sign of how thing will come to be. Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 3DS is turning out to be one of the system’s best titles.
During Pax Prime’s closed media event a closer version to the final build was available to play.
In it characters such as Shulk, Plautena, Pac-Man, Robin, and Charizard were playable.
During play sessions it was clear to see that the game is focusing to be more casual friendly.
Shields will break much easier and edge guarding was found to be non-existent.
Also if you have been paying attention to the leak photos most of it is actually true.

The leaked photos seem to be very on point with the release of Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 3DS

That being said characters such as Jigglypuff, Falco, R.O.B, and Duck Hunt Dog were absent.
Nintendo might be holding info to keep playable characters a mystery.
Whatever the case maybe the game is shaping up to be a lot of fun.
One thing that did seem to cause havoc was four player matches.
One on one worked perfectly but the 4 player free for all had frame rate problems.
Nintendo assured us that the game upon release will be more fine tuned.

The build from E3 compared to the closed media event version didn’t have many differences.
We can only hope Nintendo will come out with more news regarding Super Smash Bros. 4.
The New Nintendo 3DS was not playable but the C-stick equivalent seems like a needed feature.
Performing Smash attacks was hard to pull off unless you could play with a gamecube controller.
Hopefully more news about the New Nintendo 3DS will be in the upcoming Nintendo Direct.
The game will be released October 3rd so be sure to pick up your copy for the Nintendo 3DS.

After an exceptional previous month, the Games with Gold program disappointed Microsoft fanatics last month with a less than stellar month. Last month the Games with Gold program offered Gotham City Impostors and Battle Block Theater to Xbox Live 360 Gold members and Max and The Curse of Brotherhood and Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition to its Xbox One Gold members. These four titles are all arcade titles, but out of the four titles only three were known by name when they became part of the Games with Gold program.

Although three of those four titles were well-known, only Max and The Curse of Brotherhood and Battle Block Theater were the only two titles to be excited for, offering hours of unique and potentially memorable gameplay. So one of these four titles may be on your list of favorite games, but to the Xbox Live community seemed like an undesired Christmas present; however August’s Games with Gold offer has brought an element of surprise to the Xbox Community with it.

August’s Games with Gold offer provides Xbox One users with the ability to download Crimson Dragon and Strike Suit Zero: Director’s Cut. For those who can remember last year’s E3, you can probably still recall Crimson Dragon’s technical difficulties on stage. Crimson Dragon leaves a lot to be desired. Although the game provides stunning graphics, the mechanics leave much to be desired. Both of these titles will be available from August 1st to 31st.

Shift gears to Microsoft’s past generation console, we have the Games with Gold offer for Xbox 360. Before you can get your hands on an elusive RPG, you will have to overcome the rugged terrain of Motocross Madness. Motocross Madness will be available form August 1st to 15th until the lethal assassin takes it place. Sneaking in from behind, Dishonored looks to dethrone other past Games with Gold titles with fast techniques and ninja like stealth; Dishonored will be available to download for Xbox 360 August 15th to 31st.

Remember, in order to download the previous mentioned titles, you must have an Xbox Live Gold membership and have enough space for the content. Also all Xbox 360 download are yours to keep permanently; however all Xbox One titles will become unavailable if your Xbox Live Gold membership expires.

Last month’s Games with Gold program was exceptional. The Xbox Live community received Dark Souls and Street Fighter 4 for free in celebration of the Xbox Games with Gold program turning a year old. Earlier this month, Gotham City Impostors was free for Xbox 360 and Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition for Xbox One. This month features two arcade games for both Xbox 360 and One.

This is a sad month for the Games with Gold program because both arcade titles are older and have past their prime. However, this does revitalize the community for each title. The two other titles offered through the Games with Gold program for July are Battle Block Theater for Xbox 360 and Max and The Curse of Brotherhood for Xbox One. Both of these titles will be available until August 1st.

Max and The Curse of Brotherhood was released on may 21, 2014, so it is a newer title to be put onto the Games with Gold program. We here at gamesbliss.com feel bad for any unfortunate soul who actually purchased this game when it was $14.99, when the next two months the game would be free. Although Max and the Curse of Brotherhood is free right now; it is definitely worth its $14.99 price tag.

If you have yet to upgrade to the Xbox One and still have your Xbox 360, then Battle Block Theater is the game you can download for free through the Games with Gold program. Battle Block Theater released April 3rd, 2013 making it over a year old. The game is usually sold for $14.99  and provides hours of fun. Let the battle within your heart rage on and crush anyone that gets in your way.

Both of these titles will provide gamers with hours of fun and Max and the Curse of .Brotherhood will provide a compelling moving story. So enjoy this months Games with Gold titles. In order to download any of these titles you must have an Xbox live gold membership
