Coolest Video Game Settings – So Far
10 – Mafia III
How we wish we could scoot Mafia III to a higher spot on this list! As if this 1960-1970s era game wasn’t enough it takes place with the backing of inspiration from New Orleans. The history, culture, music and more give Mafia III one of the strongest settings; extending beyond the realm of only this generation. With that being said, the poor execution of gameplay and story makes this gem appears as number 10. The setting of this title is out of this world awesome; if the game backed up the fantastic take on the setting this game would have made a more notable imprint in gaming.
9 – Ghost Recon Wildlands
Some games are massive and Ghost Recon Wildlands is the best example of that. What makes Ghost Recon Wildlands rank well on our coolest video game settings list is its diverse map. Not only is the map huge but you can experience so many different terrains with so many different weather types. Topping what they did with this game would be difficult for any development team. The ease of drop in drop out coop in such a vast environment with fitting vehicles and weapons at your disposal is truly a fun experience.
8- Resident Evil 7
Resident Evil 7 marks a unique addition to our list for multiple reasons. Firstly, it’s not something we haven’t seen before. Many games have tackled a similar setting to the creepy, mansion survival horror title. Resident Evil 7 marks a reinvention of the Resident Evil franchise. This opens opportunities for fans to jump onboard and appreciate the franchise. It was smart to open their popular series to new fans and having a familiar and understandably creepy setting did nothing but help it stand out.
