Gears of War 4 Review – Horde 3.0

Gears of War 4 Review Screenshot SwarmHorde returns bigger than expected in Gears of War 4. Horde has always been enjoyable to say the least. Players face waves and waves of enemies that get progressively more difficult as time goes by. The basic function of Horde is exactly the same as before. In addition to familiarity, new classes, abilities and fortifications make for an enhanced experience.

A lot of the fun of Horde now comes before the game even begins. Appreciated improvement comes in choosing characters and assigning them with your preferred class and ability. Unlike Gears of War Judgement multiplayer you get to choose your character, class and ability. Every character can carry any weapon or be any class. Typical roles players take on in the battlefield serve as inspiration to the class choices. This simple tweak brings a custom feeling element to Gears that seems simple but is highly valued.

The classes you can choose from are Soldier, Scout, Heavy, Sniper and Engineer. The Soldier is the master of a Gears core mechanics and excels at dealing damage with the most classic Gears of War feel. The Scout job focuses on collecting power for fortifications and just all out surviving. Heavies deal unmatchable damage by spawning and specializing in dealing big damage. Snipers start with precision weapons which makes for clean kills. Lastly, Engineers are all about maintaining, building and upgrading fortifications.
