Uncharted 4 Announcement is Concerning

Uncharted 4

In recent news it had been announced that Uncharted 4 will be shown at E3 2014. With that being said, Uncharted 4 is unnecessary for the success of the PS4 and could actually potentially be harmful to the gaming industry and our future.

Uncharted is a fan favorite series and for that the success of PlayStation for generations strengthened. As we know, the PS4 is sitting nicely above Xbox One and for many good and accurate reasons. While the announcement of Uncharted 4 is an excitement to a lot of fans the game might hold the PS4 back some due to gamers searching for a new experience with next gen.

Just as the Xbox One shouldn’t rely on Halo for success the PS4 shouldn’t be praised for leaning on Uncharted. This is a safe move for Sony and we need to start experiencing new things not live on past success. While it is true and certain that there will be some new announcements for the PS4 gamers shouldn’t let Uncharted 4 be the show stopper as letting this happen will prove to the large company that they can do show similar titles and get just as much out of it as providing those new sought after experiences.

As game system’s progress so should the games and with both the Xbox One and now the PS4 leaning slightly on what made them so popular in the past we have concerns. Uncharted 4 will surely be showing off a step up for the series and a good game when it comes to uncharted 4. We just hope that past success does not become a clutch to either of the powerhouse gaming companies because ultimately that will damper the experience for all gamers. We want new and impressive games. Only time will tell and we will most likely be graced with the presence of something new, we just hope that whatever that new game may be will get even more attention than Uncharted 4.

Now, your point on Uncharted is extremely flawed. There have only been three console games in the series, and one Vita game. Compare that to Super Mario or even Halo, and it’s clear that Uncharted is still a long way from being milked.

Naughty Dog themselves only just released a new IP, it was called The Last of Us, so it’s not like they’re solely depending on Uncharted and have lost their creative juices.

Also, the PS4 already had The Order 1886 and DriveClub on the way as new IP, we also had Knack at launch, and we know that Guerrilla are working on a new IP as well, not to mention that there’s still games to be announced by Sony Bend, Media Molecule, Santa Monica, Quantic Dream, Sony London and more besides.

Sony have the most diverse portfolio of exclusive games out there, they’re already starting strong with a big push on new IP, but it makes perfect sense to give their fans more of their most popular franchise, that’ll push PS4 sales a lot more than most of their other games.

  2. Uncharted is a show stopper you tosser and they should rely on it to continue its success, halo is ghey and i have already sold my xb-one the pile of steamy sh!t it is

If Uncharted 4 is the best part of the Sony Press Conference… I will be a little disappointed in Sony and I love the Uncharted games.
