At E3 2013, GamersBliss.com was able to get a hands-on preview of the latest addition to the Skylanders series, Skylanders: SWAP Force. The game play and overall objectives of Skylanders: SWAP Force is similar to the previous games in the series but has tons of new and upgraded features. As fans have requested, the ability to jump has been added to the game. Also a brand new graphic engine makes Skylanders look better than ever. Once again there is seamless drop in drop out co-op. When two Skylanders are placed on the portal, it instantly becomes co-op.
Skylanders: SWAP Force features special new types of characters called SWAP Force Skylanders. These special Skylanders have the ability to mix and match their abilities and powers becoming brand new elements. In Skylanders: SWAP Force not only can all of the new SWAP force characters be used but all Skylanders from previous generations are available; allowing for over 100 possibly character options.
Stink Bomb, Wash Buckler, and Freeze Blade are just a few of the new characters we were able to get our hands on. Stink Bomb is a ninja skunk. He is stealthily because of an odor that follows him, allowing him to hide from enemies. Freeze Blade is an ice skating character but not much else is known about him at this time. Wash Buckler is an octopus looking skylander of the water element. These characters are all able to SWAP with each other creating new elements. For example if Stink Bomb and Wash Buckler swapped they would become Stink Buckler, and Wash Bomb, all new and unique Skylanders with mixed hybrid elements. With the addition of SWAP Force Skylanders there are over 250 different combos that can be created. Other SWAP force Skylanders known to be on roster at this time are Magna Charge, Night Shift and Blast Zone.
There will be a total of 16 SWAP force characters, which can be mixed and matched with each other. There will eight LightCore characters and 16 new regular Skylanders. Also there will be 16 returning skylanders will all new in-game abilities. Plus all previous generations of Skylanders will be compatable with Skylanders: SWAP Force. All of the characters from previous games that you have leveled up and upgraded will carry over to Skylanders: SWAP Force.
In the previous games the level cap was 15, in SWAP Force the max has been increased to level 20. Players will be able to carry over their already leveled up characters and continue to level them up in SWAP Force. The only negative point about Skylanders: SWAP Force is the players will not be able to use their portal from previous games. A brand new starter kit is required to play Skylanders: SWAP Force.
Skylanders: SWAP Force will release Fall 2013 on Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U, PS3 and PS4. The game will be available for $74.99 for the started pack which includes the new portal and three SWAP Force characters. Additional Skylanders can be purchased for $9.99 each or 3 for $14.99
