David Hayter Not In Metal Gear Solid 5 At All? I Call Shenanigans

David-Hayter-MGS

Everyone that has played any of the Metal Gear Solid games knows that it shines especially bright in many areas. But shines especially bright in one particular area, voice acting. Since Solid Snake was called into action in the Shadow Moses incident in Metal Gear Solid to take down Liquid Snake, he has been voiced by none other than David Hayter. After voice acting Snake for so many years, Konami has announced that they have decided to part ways with David Hayter and instead, select Kiefer Sutherland, star of the hit episodic tv series “24 to voice Big Boss” This has caused quite a stir on the interwebs as many people have been disappointed by the announcement. But don’t fear just yet because if you know Hideo Kojima, he always has something up his sleeve. Keep in mind Hideo Kojima is the guy who said he was going to retire more times than Brett Farve and yet here he is working on Metal Gear Solid 5 (Which I do not have a problem with by the way).

A few reasons I call shenanigans on this:

1. Because Kiefer Sutherland is the voice of Ishmael, the bandaged fella who helps Snake escape the hospital while it is under attack in the Metal Gear Solid 5 trailer (Seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEod8_2h99Q). Why would they have him voice two similar sounding characters?

2. Konami tweets “#MGS announcement of the day: Kiefer Sutherland is the new voice of Snake. Thoughts #Konami fans? #E3.” They say he is the new voice of Snake. This could be interpreted many ways. He could voice Big Boss, or what about Liquid Snake? What about Solidus Snake? Considering this is going back in time, all of these characters would be alive at the time so it could be a possibility.

3. This is a really good way to keep the buzz going for Metal Gear Solid 5. Stirring up controversy can get people talking and arguing about a topic for weeks which will keep MGS5 as a trending topic.

4. Hideo Kojima loves to be Sneaky with his games. He loves to keep people guessing and with Metal Gear Solid 5, I’m sure he wants to continue his sneaky ways.

5. Do you really think they attempted to save money by going out and hiring Kiefer Sutherland who would cost even more money than David Hayter? Not only that but I’m sure if there was a money issue, David Hayter would gladly take a pay cut to continue his roll as Solid Snake.

So, what do you think? Is it a hoax? You think it’s real? Let us know what you think?

I can’t see snake being voiced by anyone else other than David. It was weird in 4 with Big Boss being voiced by someone else. Since I was used to hearing David voice Big Boss in Snake Eater

Yep, I agree! Knowing Kojima in the past MGS games, these are definitely shenanigans.
