With E3 less than a week away, there is a lot of speculation about what surprises companies have in-store for their audience. Gamers of all ages, gender, race, shape and form are waiting in anticipation, and the major hot topic of the year is not any specific game but rather the consoles we will be playing them on. Since their reveals during their respective press conferences, the Xbox One (XBone) and PS4 have been the highlight of the gaming world. Sony’s press conference revealed the PlayStation 4 and for the most part everyone seemed rather content with the system but Microsoft’s press conference seems to be the train wreck of the gaming world. Microsoft’s conference showed very little information about the games we would be playing on their console but seemed rather to show the new features and applications we should expect. Then with other rumors and controversy surrounding Microsoft, it dug them into an even deeper whole, causing certain gamers to claim their unwillingness to purchase from the company for the next generation. Microsoft then proceeded to claim that they would be the winners at E3 which cause certain people to raise their eyebrows.
So what should we expect or hope to see from E3? Every company will be trying to impress the crowd with their diverse line up and we should be in for some surprises. Earlier this week a picture was leaked that might have revealed some of Microsoft’s line up for E3 and if true, Microsoft fans should be happy with what they see.
At their Press Conference Microsoft stated that 15 titles will be available for the Xbox One within the first year of release and that eight of them would be brand new titles. Expect to see a more in-depth look at Quantum Break, Forza 5, and Call of Duty: Ghosts. If the picture is true we should expect to see the unveiling of Halo 5, Fable 4, Banjo Kazooie: Grunty Land, Dead Rising 3, Halo: Spartan Assault and Fable Anniversary. Fable Anniversary was teased early yesterday by Lion Head Studios where the Jack of Diamonds was shown with a person typing different responses about a Fable one remake. Major Nelson later confirmed that Fable HD would be released in the near future.
There are multiple key titles that have yet to be seen or barely seen the spotlight. Square Enix show the world Final Fantasy 14 online at the Sony press conference but there are still questions surround some of their other titles? Like will the Kingdom Hearts 1.5 remix be solely for the PS3 or be released for the Xbox 360. Then there is the question of what will happen with Final Fantasy 13 VS, will it arrive for the next generation or current generation? When will Square Enix start work on Kingdom Hearts 3?
Nintendo still has a lot to show. Could we see some more game play for Pokemon X and Y, Pokemon Stadium 3, a new Zelda or Mario title. Will a new Super Smash Brothers be revealed for the new generation? Will they disclose details about the release date of Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney for the the west?
Then there is the game that seems to be M.I.A! Prey 2 was revealed at E3 a few years back but has yet to be released to the public, will it be one of those titles that just disappears? Then there are some surprise titles that we might see, there has been talk of Dragon Age 3 and Mirror’s Edge 2, both were accidentally posted on amazon, so will we see the emergence of these two titles. Bungie has since the release of Halo: Reach has been busy with their new product Destiny so expect to see game play of some sort from them.
EA seems like they will have a lot to reveal, after partnering with Microsoft we can expect to see some big titles revealed. Obviously the sports game Madden 25 and FIFA 14 will be previewed in order to hype their sports audience. Most of their reveals will most likely be in their action aspect of games, with potential showing Need for Speed: Rivals, Star Wars titles such as Star Wars 1313, Star Wars Battle Front 3 or Republic Command 2. Look for game play of Battle Field 4 to compete with Call of Duty. There are also going to be reveals from Dice and BioWare so look forward to those as well.
Konami is set to impress with the revealing of of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Castlevania: Lord of Shadows 2, and Pro Evolution Soccer. Maybe they will disclose who will voice Solid Snake in the upcoming title. With Valve teasing potential movies for Portal and Half-Life, could we see the reveal of a new Valve title or a squeal to popular franchises. Many are hoping for the release of one of three games: Portal 3, Half-Life 3 or Left 4 Dead 3. Any of these three titles would sell like hotcakes especially the long waited for Half-Life 3.
Look for multiple Bethesda reveals especially since the Elder Scrolls online MMO will be releasing in the near future. There is even murmurings of Fallout 4. Look also for reveals of The Evil Within and Wolfenstein: The New Order. There should also be reveals for popular titles such as: Saints Row 4, Witcher 3, Pay Day 2, Batman: Arkham Origins, Watch Dogs, Assassins Creed 4: Black Flag, Splinter Cell: Black List, Rayman Legends, Killzone 4: Shadows Fall, Drive Club, Deep Down, and Infamous: Second Son.
With the announcement of Fable 1 being remade there is also speculation of a potential remake of Halo 2 due to its ten year anniversary being in 2014. Also look for Harmonix to potentially show of Fantasia: Music Evolved, especially after the recent reveal. Finally be on the look out for any Indie Games or any new gaming technology like the Occulus Rift and DLC such as Borderlands 2: Tiny Tina Assault on Dragon Keep.
There is a lot happening at E3 this year from the new games to the consoles we will be playing the games on. So just keep your eyes and ears open for any new reveals and remember that the gamersbliss staff will be live at E3 to report the news as it happens. E3 will be from June 11th to 13th but there will be a few conferences Monday the 10th before hand.
