Rocksteady not developing Batman: Arkham Origins

Batman Arkham Origins Rocksteady

Today marked another unveiling of a game to come out in the latter half of the year. Batman: Arkham Origins is the prequel to the familiar Arkham City and Arkham Asylum titles. However, it may come to you as a shocker that Rocksteady Studios has no part in the title. Instead the game is being developed by an in house studio at Warner Bros. Montreal.

Game Informer will feature Batman: Arkham Origins on it’s cover for the upcoming May issue. Warner Bros. tells the magazine that the team “will use pre-existing assets for the new game.” Eric Holmes will lead the project, Holmes has worked on titles such as The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction and Prototype as the lead level designer.

Arkham Origins will focus on a younger green Bruce Wayne and will likely tell the tale of how Batman became to be. Warner Bros. Also states that the game will feature comic book villains that have yet to make an appearance in previous installments of the Arkham franchise. The game is set to release on October 25th for PC,PS3, 360 and Wii U. No word on whether or not the title will appear on Next-Gen consoles for Sony and Microsoft.

That isn’t all that has been revealed handheld gamers will be getting their healthy does of Arkham Origins. A PS Vita and 3DS title has also been announced dubbed, Arkham Origins Blackgate. Which refers to the Blackgate prison in the Batman universe, will Bruce Wayne be locked up with other prisoners? The handheld title will help fully explain the Origins story behind Batman and possibly Arkham Asylum. Armature Studios will be developing this title which also has a release date of October 25th. The development team has worked on the popular Metal Gear Solid Adaptations for the PS Vita and also a Megaman reboot which you can learn about here.
