The first DLC that will be available for the recently released Gears of War: Judgment is coming rather soon in a few days, which will be free and sponsored by Maxim Magazine. This new content will not be part of the VIP Season Pass and will add 2 additional maps as well as another game mode. Gears of War: Judgment could not have a better time to receive this due to the lack of maps the game shipped with (4 maps per mode). The mode that will be brought back is a community favorite known as ‘Execution’, where you get one life per round while you also must execute the enemy to get a kill, making it a much more up close and personal game type.
With execution making a return, it has also been confirmed that DBNO (Down, but not out) is back as well in multiplayer, which has not been in the games multiplayer modes. So now you can revive your team-mates the old way by picking them up as they are bleeding out, much like the campaign. This also brings other rules to the mode such as the fact that you can ONLY equip Spots and Smokes to your grenade slot. I am sure you may be able to pick up other grenades in the map, but to make it fair you cannot start with them.
The two new maps are ‘Capitol’ and ‘Haven’, which are not just restricted to ‘Execution’. Haven will also be playable in othe modes such as Domination, while Captiol has been confirmed to be playable in OverRun and Survival. The VIP Season Pass will still get you an additional 6 multiplayer maps as well as another 2 game modes aside from the above content (also includes 2x XP, exclusive weapon/armor skins & more). Official details on the new DLC are below.
- Haven: Formerly a tropical oasis, this ancient monastery in the Azura mountains is now a frozen wasteland, thanks to the tectonic shifts on Planet Sera. Featuring an asymmetrical circular layout, the map is a guaranteed blast – all paths lead back to the center, so no matter which route you take, you’re going to be embroiled in a fast-paced, hectic battle.
- Execution Mode: In Execution Mode, the objective of each team is to kill all members of the enemy team before the time limit runs out. The catch? Unless hit with a one-shot kill weapon like the Booshka, players go into a “Down But Not Out” state and will revive at the end of the bleed-out timer instead of dying. To finish the job, perform an Execution on a downed enemy.
