Why Releasing Enter the Dominatrix on SR:TT would have Saved Saints Row IV

Saints Row IV

The Enter the Dominatrix DLC started out as a cruel April fool’s joke played by the development team to spoof their fans on what was coming next for the series. While as everyone got a good laugh out of the joke the humor stopped when the company announced that they were actually going to be releasing content from their joke as DLC for Saints Row: The Third. As we all should know by now, Enter the Dominatrix was originally DLC slated for a release with Saints Row: The Third but has now been added as DLC to Saints Row IV as well as Saints Row IV as well as taking some of the DLC’s elements for the actual retail game.

This DLC turned in-game elements and next installment DLC forced the series in a direction that no true fan wished to see the series go. The teaser trailer that was recently released for Saints Row IV confirmed that Volition was once again focusing on a corny sell-out plotline. A once funny joke turned into a horrible nightmare for any true Saints Row fan.

If Enter the Dominatrix would have been released as it was originally supposed to, on saints Row: The Third as, it would have saved fans a lot of heartache and Volition a lot of time and money.

Saints Row IV

The teaser trailer and plotline information about Saints Row IV did more than ruffle a few feathers. The majority of fan reaction to the game has been negative. People are threatening to turn their back on the series just as the development team did to them. Fans are begging for a true sequel to Saints Row 2 with summoning some of the added aspects that kept their attention in Saints Row: The third. Former Saints Row fans are outraged at what they are seeing with Saints Row IV. If the company would have just released Enter the Dominatrix as DLC for Saints Row: The Third then they would have learned that this isn’t what their true fans wanted from the game and they wouldn’t have had to waste so much time turning that into elements of a game that is bound to sell less than their previous titles in the series.

Saints Row IV is predicted to sell less, unless Volition does something to prove that they still do love the fans that brought them from nothing to something. If nothing is done to prove to these fans that Saints Row IV will be worth their while then  they will see a dramatic decline in sales. With a dramatic decline in sales the chances of making another game in that series will be slim. Because the predominate reaction among their audience is negative at the time being something has to change before the release date comes.

Bottom line is, if Enter the Dominatrix would have been released as it should have been fans would have been able to show their attitude toward the way they are taking the series before the team worked on creating a game that a very small amount of their fans are even interested in. As Saints Row IV has only just been teased, they have more time to prove themselves worthy of the respect their true fans once gave them. Hopefully something will be done to reverse what so many are calling a mistake but after what happened with the change in the series between Saints Row 2 and Saints Row: The Third, our expectation is running thin. Hopefully Volition won’t prove their new publisher, Deep Sliver that investing so much money into something fans are considering to already be a letdown won’t throw them into bankruptcy as well.
