The Gears of War franchise saw its ups and downs but ultimately was and still is an extremely successful campaign from the first title to the trilogy ending third game. Now with Senior Staff members of the franchise, Cliff Blesinski and Rod Fergusson having left Epic Games who had a heavy hand on how the franchise evolved, the game is in the hands of People Can Fly developers (Bulletstorm) with the rest of Epic Game devs holding their hands with the creation of Gears of War: Judgment. The fourth title in the franchise which is a sequel to the entire trilogy again published by Microsoft making it an Xbox 360 exclusive.
The news of the VIP Season Pass for Gears of War: Judgment comes from Microsoft and it is a rather interesting one at that, not to mention well worth it in my opinion. After playing the game I feel that the franchise has not lost any grip from the last title released, so I expect great things from Gears of War: Judgement regardless of the self infatuated Cliff Blesinski not being on the lead for this project. The VIP Season Pass for the game has been said as one way to get a leg up on the competition which you may also do by pre-ordering the game, giving you access to play the OverRun Multiplayer mode 3 days before release, with all your progress carrying over to the full game come March 19th in North America and March 22nd, 2013 in other countries.
Included with the VIP Season Pass which will cost you 1600 Microsoft Points ($19.99) is the following:
- Two Game Add-on Packs that include six multiplayer maps, two new modes, and new weapon and armor skins
- Early access to Game Add-on multiplayer maps so you can be the first to play
- A permanent double XP boost to accelerate your ascent through the ranks
- Five exclusive weapon skins and four exclusive armor skins
It doesn’t end there either as Gears of War: Judgement will have a free map pack released as a special collaboration between Microsoft/Epic Games and MAXIM Magazine. MAXIM Magazine are super excited as well as proud to be sponsoring their very own maps which consist of Haven (an icy multi-level map) and Capitol (where government buildings can be seen in the snow). Not only has MAXIM Magazine sponsored this free map pack that will be available for download on April 2nd, 2013 but they also bring the news of the return of the ‘Execution’ Game Mode which in my opinion was the staple of the franchise as it began. For those who have been living under a rock, you should know that you cannot just gun an enemy down from a distance in Execution as you must get up close and personal where you can quickly execute them with a curb stomp or pull off a more fancy kill to show off your skill. Now we know that ‘Execution’ is making a return, we can add it to all the other modes we know that will be in the game which you can check out here along with tons of other multiplayer details as well as the Singleplayer/Multiplayer Trailers. The April 2nd Map Pack from MAXIM Magazine you can see screens of below, the first being Haven and under that being Capitol which again are at no charge thanks to the #1 Mens Magazine MAXIM.
Below you can check out three new videos featuring three new weapons introduced to the Gears of War gaming world in Gears of War: Judgment out March 19th exclusively for the Xbox 360.
