All good things must come to an end…
…but Monster Hunter will continue forever. <<let’s hope))
With the much anticipated official release date for “Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate” announced, also came forth news many would have not liked to hear. Capcom will be shutting down its Monster Hunter Tri Online Servers for Wii on April 30, 2013, six weeks after the launch of Monster Hunter Ultimate for Wii U and 3DS. That gives us just about enough time to transition over to the improved version of Monster Hunter 3 (Ultimate) and get a feel for the new online servers on Wii U. It is to be expected of the improved version to take over the reins of its outdated predecessor, but for many, the online aspect of Tri will always hold a place in many hunters’ hearts. Monster Hunter Tri was not only enjoyable to many vets of the series, but it also brought on board lots of newcomers, including yours truly. Remember those moments when you were like “did you see that?!”, “WTF”, “hackers!”, or simply that incredulous, fated moment you kicked an Uragaan in the shin and it turned over, flopped, and died. Perhaps you typed af.ter and wondered why a common adjective was censored, so you went and Googled it only to find redundant, but amusing rumors. These memories are probably what keep fans coming for more (minus the cheaters), as well as the awesomeness that is hacking at monsters, making your hunter stronger… and giving people burnt meat and garbage.
With that said, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate seems to provide that which Tri delivered, and more. Naturally, not only is it an expansion/upgraded version of the original, but it may very well prove to be a new game in its own right. We have a few weeks left until we get our hands on a copy of MH3U and evaluate the game for ourselves. But more than comparing and contrasting the similarities and differences between the two games, let us put more emphasis on enjoying the game and having fun. So start pm-ing your online Tri buddies, pre-order those copies, and prepare to hack away at monsters old and new, all in glorious HD!
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for Wii U and 3DS is scheduled for release on March 19, 2013 in North America, and March 22nd in Europe.
