Call of Duty Elite, when it first came out, marked a direction for the title none of us thought the COD franchise could be going. The Elite service was marking the beginnings of what could have been an intricate and detailed tournament feature for COD fans. While the game did feature something similar it is sad to say that the Elite service was never realized. Announced during the COD XP event last year in September, Activision seemed like it had big plans for the subscription based service.
Well COD addicts we are both frustrated and happy to report you will no longer need to purchase COD: Elite for the new Call of Duty game being released in November, Black Ops 2. Instead the service will offer all of the basic stat tracking and load out tips for free on the Elite site. So how do you get the DLC content for one purchase? Well my little COD whores you are able to purchase a season pass, (who knew right?) which will include all of the content brimming from the HDD.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will have 4 DLC drops inbound for Season Pass holders. Included in the season pass will be new Multiplayer maps, new Zombie maps as well as new content for the multiplayer mode in Black Ops 2. More than likely a new game mode will be tossed in here and there but don’t expect anything ground breaking as far as DLC goes for Call of Duty.
So what about Elite members for COD MW3? Well the service will not be free for you as far as Leveling up your clan and competing in the tournaments for real prizes go. Sadly after the last Elite drop for the MW3 season the paid Elite service will slowly die off. So for all of you suckers that did renew it… no offense, you might want to ask for your money back straight from Activision themselves. Just don’t get mad when you hear an evil laugh and a cha-ching sound when you visit their HQ.
