Valve Discusses Left 4 Dead 3

Left4Dead

Even though we might be far off from an actual announcement for next installment of the Left 4 Dead series, it’s a ‘sound for sore ears’ to learn that Valve is indeed discussing Left 4 Dead 3. Chet Faliszek, who works with Valve, had no problem with expressing a deep love for Valve’s fan favorite zombie game series.

In a recent interview Faliszek stated, “A 3? You know, some time down the road. Like anything, I would say that to all of our games. So that’s not a promise of when or where.”

Chet discussed the AI director. In previous Left 4 Dead titles the AI director generated zombies in answer to the player’s progression through a level. This helped keep fans interested by having each time they play through a level it ended up different. An aspect like this made the game different and ultimately ended up giving gamers more incentive to continue playing through the same levels of the game. The Ai director was unpredictable and something that had always keeps the suspense high.

It was mentioned that the aspect of the AI director could be widely expanded upon in a next instalment to the series. When (or if) the next game in the Left 4 Dead series is released it could potentially allow the player to control the AI director. Although it was said to have not gone past the point of discussing, Valve thought it would be a cool idea to have a player take the role of “dungeon master”.

Later on in the interview Faliszek continued, “You’d have to start testing it. You’d need an economy of points that the dungeon master was spending. There’s a 10 vs. 10 mod for Left 4 Dead, and one day me and Matt Scott, the animator, were playing it. For a really long stretch of time we just kept saving up all the points, and at one point we just started spawning witches everywhere, just non-stop. It made us laugh. Stuff like that you have to figure out.”

Would this be something that you would think to be an enjoyable aspect in a game life Left 4 Dead? Do you predict that Valve will or are producing another Left 4 Dead game? Leave your comments below to let us know how you feel about the Left 4 Dead 3!

I would really like to see a new engine first. What they did with CS:GO was pretty poor, and this would be the same. Any additions or changes they would/could make, should be done in an update or some kind of dlc.
