Call of Duty has been a super power in the gaming industry for many years. This game has broken a number of different records and has kept players interested for so many years. Players have been addicted to this game for its fast-paced multiplayer, exciting storyline, and addictive zombie/ spec ops modes. The month of November is now renowned for the reason of being the annual release of a game in the Call of Duty series. This game is one of the largest out there and although many games have tried to surpass its greatness, no other game has been able to take away its glory. As time progresses it has become clear that there is one game out there that has the potential to de-crown COD, rip it from its never ending glory and shrink that huge fan base.
So many games have tried to go the distance but have failed to impress as many gamers and Call of Duty has. Even with an alternating development team, fans find it in their hearts to love the game each and every year it comes out. Everyone had a different reason to love Call of Duty. There is that one game out there that has always had the potential to completely take away that brilliance by killing off interest in the game to a vast majority of its large fan base.
The argument of Medal of Honor and Battlefield 3 against Call of Duty has been a huge debate among gamers. The release of both of EA’s hottest military first-person shooters have past within the past few year and still Call of Duty sits high on its throne soaking up the fame and money of players around the world. Both of these games were big games and they grew a decent amount of fans, especially Battlefield 3, and yet Call of Duty remained untouched and unfazed by such a large games impact.
If we’ve mentioned that there is a game that could take Call of Duty’s glory away and it’s not the two other largest military first-person shooters out there then what is it? Well, it’s Call of Duty itself. Although the series has seen its very high points, players are getting tired of playing such a similar game that releases each year. The game is addictive and players will play it but after time it just loses interest which will slowly force people to move onto different games. Call of Duty hardly changes throughout the years and it still is a good game; it’s just not going to continue to hold a large interest in a vast gaming population for much longer.
Who wants to sit there year after year playing the same game when other new great unique games are being released? Even though the game makes slight changes each year it’s just not the same as it was in the beginning. This is the game that will and has been waiting to take Call of Duty out of the spotlight; players just won’t be as willing to drop as much money on the same game year after year.
With that being said, there is another game out there that can be considered almost an honorable mention. Although not much information has been announced about Battlefield 4 there is reason to believe it will be the next game with an unstoppable fan base. Battlefield 3 held great attention from many gamers and with the improvements made to the development team as well as the fundamentals of Battlefield 3, it is likely that this game will take huge to the next level despite not knowing any solid information about the actual game. The fans will be the one to decide if that happens but we do look forward to seeing what an impact a game like Battlefield 4 can make on the industry.
