Persona 5 In Development

Yesterday’s release of Persona 4 Arena is followed by great news from Famitsu. According to a translation from Andriasang, Persona’s producer Katsura Hashino has revealed that Team Persona “is currently focused on the next numbered entry in the Persona series.”

Finally, after four long years of waiting and offering sacrifices to the High Lord of Gaming, we finally have word of a good JRPG on the horizon. That’s right, no more distractions; Persona 5 will soon be upon us. Well, maybe not too soon. Shigenori Soejima, the art director for Persona 3 and Persona 4, has been submitting sketches and the game is “making progress.” Thus implying that the game may still be in the early stages of development.

Persona 5 will be the first HD entry in the series. If Catherine is any clue as to the look of the future title, there is much to look forward to from Team Persona. There is currently no word on an official announcement or a release date. However, with four years of waiting behind us, what’s a few more? Especially, when our appetites are satiated with great titles such as Catherine and Persona 4 Arena.

On another note, Hashino also added that he is working on a “collaborative project that will surprise everyone.” An announcement for this title is still far off, but is nonetheless exciting.
