Ok gamers lets face it, this generation of console libraries has been less than stellar. Sure we have some titles that have given us that warm fuzzy feeling we get while playing. However it seems like once a game company gets a hold of a certain franchise they create a new game in the franchise with little or minor gameplay differences and a bland lackluster story. Darksiders II has none of these elements! The game feels totally fresh with a new take on the franchise. This should be obvious with the new character we get to play as, shouldn’t it? Who doesn’t want to unleash the power of Death? This Horseman is quick agile and is quite frankly the “Wolverine” of the 4 Horsemen! So what makes this game what Hardcore gamers want?
Story
- “Death Comes for all…”
Games with great stories along with great gameplay get played by the hardcore on more than one occasion. Basically like a good movie we want to sit down and watch for the 100th time. Well Darksiders II will be the same way with countless hours being spent on finding out why exactly Death took this action during certain points in the story. Dissecting every little detail of the game until we as gamers can take no more. With a postapocalyptic story, great character design and dialogue, Darksiders II has all the bases covered.
Death isn’t just the strong silent type like War. He is the witty smart aleck we love in school. Death is the Fonzy of Darksiders II. And brings back gaming to where it should be focused on GAMES! With every detail fine tuned and tweaked for the Hardcore gamer this should show that Vigil Games is a house built by Hardcore Gamers for Hardcore Gamers.
Loot
- Deaths personal Arsenal!
Not a lot of current gen games have picked up on this nifty little feature for a game. Yet Darksiders II gives you more loot than you can feed… well your loot. One of the most hardcore features in the game is the new loot system that has been added. With the ability to pick up 10 swords and feed it to that kick ass sword you found off of the first demon you killed, now that is epic. By feeding your weapon the same weapon type they become even stronger! And this doesn’t apply to just weapons, it also applies to armor!
Hardcore gamers LOVE THAT, throw in a new system that you can gift your friends and well you just sealed the deal on this one. I just know that any weapon I receive for the GamersBliss crew is getting feed to my ultimate bad ass Scythe I’m rocking for Death!
Difficulty
- Prepare to get your ass kicked!
Hardcore gamers like their games like they like their steak… TOUGH! Nothing says you are a hardcore gamer like beating the game on the highest possible difficulty and bragging about it to your friends. With Darksiders II not only do you get the toughest difficulty, you will also get to tackle this accomplishment with none other than Death himself. You can’t die in Nightmare mode that is why it is called a Nightmare. Just seeing the face of the 10′s of thousands trying to tackle this feat would be priceless. Yet one person will manage to do it. And they will have all of the bragging rights knowing they did it fair and square… no game cheats, no glitching just hard work and effort on beating their new favorite game on the hardest difficulty. Not to mention for all your hard work you get an award for your Avatar on Xbox 360 to show your friends! Anyone want a virtual Death Mask for this achievement? Now that my friends is Hardcore!
Remember just because we are hardcore gamers doesn’t mean we only play the FPS shooter genre. This has been skewed and has tattered the image of the Hardcore gamer that plays a variety of games. Hardcore gamers have one thing that FPS fans don’t have, a library. A library of games that is handcrafted and selected by the gamer themselves so that at any time of day they can select a game of any genre and enjoy it. Hopefully you Hardcore COD fans or Battlefield fans can wake up and smell the games and sit down with Darksiders II because it is a Killer App!
