Why you should put your money into THQ’s stock!

THQ… a company that has almost been recently delisted from the stock market.  Their stock currently is at $5.17 a share as of 7/27/12.  But what about when the company was doing good, where was it at then?  The highest THQ’s stock has ever been was at roughly 360 dollars a share… no Xbox needed.  This was in April of 2007 when well everything was better.  The economy, jobs, real estate you name it.  Hell even a hot dog and a soda at Costco was $1.50… wait it still costs… Any ways the point is that with all the shuffling around and lay offs at THQ one thing is for certain.  This company doesn’t seem to be going anywhere especially from the list of games we got to sit down and preview at E3 and SDCC.  So if there is any way you can scrounge up some money to get into THQ’s stock, now is the time.  Remember buy low sell high that is the name of the game on wall street.  With a list of these titles coming out in the next couple of years it is obvious THQ means business.

Darksiders II

This game looks to improve on everything the first title brought us.  And don’t get me wrong in a console world of First Person Shooters and sports titles this is a welcomed addition to any gamers library.  The game mixes puzzle, action, and a new loot feature to be included in Darksiders II.  The game looks gorgeous, the sheer amount of polish the team has put into this game is amazing.  It shows that THQ not only wants to develop games but that it wants to develop quality games.  The games you talk about 10 years from now with your buddies and scurry ebay to find the lowest listing of the game to bid on.  While Darksiders II is a clever mixture of games like God of War and The Legend of Zelda it is quite clear that the team behind the pixel playground, Vigil, wants that Game of the Year status.  With the saying at THQ clearly being “Gamers making games” it is no wonder why this is one of the hottest titles coming out in the summer drought in August.  Mind you even though the game isn’t out yet and we don’t have a review copy the Hands-on demo we had at E3 and San Diego Comic-Con 2012 shows that Death is pissed and he is out to avenge his brother War.

South Park: Stick of Truth

This was one of the surprises at E3 2012 the announcement of South Park: Stick of Truth!  The game not only gives homage to the veteran sit com found on Comedy Central.  It brings new details to the universe of South Park by being able to navigate around the city.  Stick of Truth has you cast as the 5th friend of the original cast Stan, Kyle, Kenny and that fat ass Cartman.  While the game seems not to take itself seriously much like the show.  Gamers are eager to get their mitts on this one as it will help the flooded market of crap seem that much more disgusting than Ike’s diaper.  THQ not only surprised us with this out of no where title, but it also shows that it will not F*** with your South Park.  I personally can’t wait to kill Kenny in this new South Park title.

Metro: Last Light

Some games don’t deserve a sequel and if you asked me before attending the Electronic Entertainment Expo in June.  The Metro series would be one of the first on my list.  The company that gave us some of the biggest hopes and dreams a gamer can ask for and BOOM!!!  It all comes crashing down into a pile of “S”, much like THQ’s stock.  While it is easy to make fun of the company the new gameplay demo shown off at E3 made my jaw drop.  This was one of the best looking titles at the Expo and it wasn’t even on the show floor.  THQ couldn’t afford a booth on the floor so sadly it had a small space located in the rafters of the LA Convention Center.  It was like the Norte Dame hunchback looking down at all the normal folks.  4A games looks to shut the load mouths like myself up by giving gamers what they want.  A post-apocalyptic, action-oriented, survival horror title with some of the best heart pounding scenarios in a game.  While we didn’t get a chance to grip the controller this is one of my most wanted titles.  And it might be yours as well once you see the game in action.

Company of Heroes 2

There is a reason why the original Company of Heroes has such a high score on Metacritic.  As you read that I envision the numerous amount of trollers ready to troll the industry by changing that.   With a User score of 90 and an overall score of 93/100 it isn’t hard to understand that this one of the best PC games to come out in 2006.  And 6 years later footage of the sequel comes out thanks to THQ.  The game looks to wipe that StarCraft II taste out of your mouth and give gamers what we all want.  A sequel with balls and a lot of meat to chew on.  The game not only looks gorgeous it reminds us of why we know and love THQ.  For the games that it distributes to gamers for us to play nights on end.  While this Real Time Strategy title might not be the kind of game you are looking for, giving it a try might give you a reason to put that military FPS down for a new genre.

Homefront 2

EEEEkkk that game that was developed by a no name dev team that sold millions of copies.  Then again even if this shooter wasn’t shown at E3 this year you better be damn sure that it will show up next year.  Once THQ gets its act together like those Russians did in WW2 expect a full offensive with Homefront 2 leading the pack.  The games listed before are just games to ensure that THQ gets a good footing for a tactical assault on EA, Activision and the up and coming hot head Ubisoft.  While they continue to pump out titles yearly with little change.  THQ is taking a different route and ensuring each title has so much polish the nails stay that color.  Homefront 2 has the advantage with being a title every gamer knows that will be improved, fine tuned and ready to deploy onto consoles and PC’s once it drops.  Lets just hope that until then we don’t get invaded by North Korea.

I know what you are thinking… where the hell is Saints Row 4 and the new WWE title blah blah.  While I understand your concern about this article, please note that THQ just released Saints Row 3 and Red Faction: Armageddon last year.  And if they don’t get their act together for what ever reason you may never see those titles ever again.  At least not from the developers or THQ for that matter.  Seriously do people really play WWE titles?
