SDCC 2012: Hands-on Preview with Hitman: Absolution- Just What Gamers Were Looking For!

Hitman Absolution

Hitman is becoming a household name before we know it! Square Enix’s next installment to the Hitman franchise, Hitman: Absolution is turning a lot of heads and for good reason. Agent 47 is quick to prove himself as ‘not your average assassin’. He is the definition of cool with a calm collective attitude this assassin gets the job done right. San Diego Comic-Con made sure Hitman: Absolution’s presence was known by having this game playable at multiple different locations. Getting hands-on with this title was a delight that left players turning back around to get in line just to play the quick demo again.

The demo sounded simple, kill the target. What sounds simple actually turns out to be a great challenge to some. Agent 47 is placed in a large crowd of people and is told to kill a guy located right in the middle of the crowded place. It would have been impossible to not be seen killing the man with agent 47’s classic silver baller pistol in a crowd of that size so we decided to wait it out. Eventually the target begins to move around the large map. It is left to the player to decide when and was the perfect time to kill their target.

The beauty of the game is the option of choice without being given a direct choice. You can choose who to kill, where to kill them, how to do it, and what/ why they must die in a matter of minutes. It’s far from linear and the player is in complete control of the way they wish to finish each mission.

Getting our hands on Hitman: Absolution was an extraordinary experience. The game felt like an instant classic from the moment the demo begun. This is a game where the player is truly in control; stealth or run and gun? The choice is literally up to the player. One of the more interesting points about the game is the grading system too. The player is graded on how they executed their mission based on a number of different challenges. How quiet were they? How many witnesses? All these questions come into play in Hitman: Absolution and at the end of each mission the player is given a named based off of their performance. This is something players loved about the series past and we are glad to see it return.

Hitman: Absolution is a must by for any hardcore gamer. The simple demo that was played at San Diego Comic-Con continues to run through our head. This game can be easily said to be addicting as the thoughts of what would happen if we did something instead of the way we finished just won’t leave out minds. There is only two negative sides about Hitman: Absolution worth pointing out; the first being that it might be extremely challenging for someone unfamiliar to the series and the second being that we are going to have to wait just a few more months for the game to hit the store shelves!
