It is always nice to reward Veteran players of a franchise as it gives players that supported and bought games from the series something back. I think it is a great idea for all game franchises and if you were doing something else more important when the first game in the franchise was out or still drinking milk out of a bottle… too bad! However in all seriousness not only do I think it is a great idea as gamers love extras, but it also entices players to play the first (or others) in the franchise which is a plus for the publisher as well as the developer. Now of course I am talking about the groovy in game swag you get in Borderlands 2 for having a game save from Borderlands 1.
As you can see in the picture above you not only does this tell us you can customize the way you look, but you get head wear and outfits for all the new characters. Having a chance to play the game at E3, I can say that I was indeed impressed as it felt much like the first one but better in numerous ways that I won’t go into detail now, but everything seems bigger and more improved. For having your Borderlands 1 save which at this point any progression within the save does not seem to matter, you get an alternate hairstyle and goggles for Maya who is the ‘Siren’ class. Salvador, who is the new Rambo ‘Gunserker’ class gets a Pandora savage themed outfit from head to toe and next of the new characters is Zero (‘Assassin’ class) getting an interesting looking head mask that looks like it is straight out of the Alien films along with hist costume. Lastly we have Axton, who I feel kind of got the short end of the stick just looking like Crimson Guard from the first game with his mask.
All the ‘Vault Veteran’ outfits are themed with the same red and yellow scheme which implies… .. I have no idea it implies. But hey exclusive free content just for playing the first game is cool. Borderlands 2 will be out on September 18th for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, PC and possibly the PS Vita, while it will hit shelves in the UK on September 21st.

Actually, Zero’s helmet is a gearbox spiderant helmet.
