Lord of Shadow 2 is the end of the re-imagined Castlevania trilogy. With the ending of that recreated series just around the corner the question that gamers have in their minds is what next? David Cox and his team aren’t finished with the rebooting of classic franchises and they have their eyes fixed on Contra next!
Cox stated, “I know there’s going to be pressure on us to do another Castlevania game, but I don’t want to rise to that pressure. I want to do something else. I love Contra. I’d love to do Contra. At MercurySteam we’ve got an original idea that I think is really awesome. We’d love to bring that idea to market and I’m hoping that the success of Lord of Shadows 2 will allow us to do that.”
That is undoubtedly great news for any classic game fans, was a game that stood on its own and created a solid fan base of its time. It was a game everyone loved to play in arcades and the perfect game to remake. There are limitless possibilities that can be made when recreating a game like this and we have high hopes of seeing something like this completed.
