Will Need for Speed No longer Switch Between Developers?

NeedforSpeedMostWanted

It has been made known the in the Need for Speed series multiple different developers have taken on making one of these face paced racing games. Starting with Black Box studio’s Need for Speed has switch between multiple different developers over the years which has definitely taken its toll on the game series as a whole. Fans could never be certain that this was going to be the Need for Speed game they wanted because of how many times the development team has switched. The fears of an unsteady franchise can now be put at ease because Criterion (developer of Burnout and upcoming Need for Speed Most Wanted) will be taking a much more involved roll from now on.

“Our stamp’s going to be in everything you see in Need for Speed and Burnout going forward in the future. It’s not going to be spread anymore across different companies,” vice president Alex Ward stated, “Different studios have had a crack at it–it’s definitely a Criterion gig now.”

Although the studio has declined the question that they will be developing every Need for Speed game from now on it can be thought that even if Criterion isn’t going to be the main developer of all Need for Speed games they will still have a say in whatever is going on with the series. With one company at least having a say in the series at all times it is much more likely that every Need for Speed game will have that steady flow that the series has always needed.
