First off as one of the biggest shooter franchise, or franchises in general; Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 have added three new Face Off Maps and a new Special Ops Mission. The Double XP Weekend is on as well and will span from Friday, June 22nd through Monday, June 25th. The new maps and Spec Ops Mission are as always available for the Xbox 360 first as well as being available to Call of Duty Elite Members before anyone else also. So although the new maps are only available for the Xbox 360 right now, the double XP weekend should be available for everyone.
As for the new Face Off Maps we have ‘Vortex‘, placing you outside a Tornado Zone. ‘U-Turn‘, is a map that puts you in a bombed-out, gridlocked six-lane highway while oil fields burn beside you along with all the abandoned vehicles. ‘Intersection‘ places you near a New York bridge overpass with the actual map consisting of a 2-block radius to battle with-in where you can take advantage of the first or second floors of the abandoned apartments or bodegas surrounding you. ‘Arctic Recon‘, the new Special Ops Mission will be set by air, land, and sea, as you are tasks with destroying a Russian battleship by planting beacons on it for an air strike. You will get to take control of a Recon Chopper and of course get your hands dirty on the ground.
The new content will add 3 new Achievements (as well as trophies once released for the Playstation 3) which are:
Stay Frosty – 15G
Complete the “Arctic Recon” Special Ops mission on any difficulty.
Sub Zero – 25G
Complete the “Arctic Recon” Special Ops mission on Veteran difficulty.
dr0n3d – 35G
Complete the “Arctic Recon” Special Ops mission in under 3:30.
The content does not stop there as we wait for the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops II, there are 4 new maps, 2 new Special Ops missions and 1 Classified drop that are on the way in the coming months. The content listed above will be apart of the Modern Warfare 3 – Collection 3 DLC when it is released a bit down the road.
