E3 2012: Top 5 Show Surprises

Suprise featured

E3 2012 has housed some of the biggest surprises of the show to date. With amazing new IP’s announced, as well as, console features player could have previously only dreamed of, everyone to have been left pleased. There were a lot of great games shown and even better the new games that were announced but what were the best surprises we saw? There were tons of options so we wanted to give players a diverse look into what we at Gamersbliss.com found to be some of the most pleasant surprises of the show.

Sniper Ghost Warrior 2

Sniper Ghost Warrior was a game that came out a few years back and didn’t make a huge impact on the industry as a whole. It had a great concept and it was actually a lot of fun but it wasn’t one of those games that everyone had or everyone liked. At E3 2012, we were very pleased with the Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 playable demo. How polished the game was compared to the last was a pleasant surprise. Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 seemed to have taken the best elements of the last game and added them with new ideas to make a great game. Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 stands out in this crowded military first person shooter genera; it is a game that follows the career of a sniper team. Putting the play in the position of a sniper where that is the soul purpose in the game is brilliant and with Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 that idea was well executed. Coming from a game that got little recognition to a standalone title is a pleasant surprise to any gamer.

Zombi U

Everyone was curious about the Wii U since it made its first appearance at last year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo. What people expected was another Nintendo system that left hardcore gamers itching for more, however, when the spotlight is turned to Zombi U that is not the case. Zombi U is a mature rated game exclusive for Nintendo’s next console. Instead of the cutesy games Nintendo advertised itself with in the past Zombi U can appeal to a much different crowd. This game is from a third part company, Ubisoft, as well which Wii U promises to make more games available from our favorite 3rd party publishers. Zombi U could be the start of something wonderful for the Wii U; a way to hook the hardcore gamer again. (plus we can’t forget about that Pro controller Nintendo, we are counting on you!)

Beyond: Two Souls

Beyond: Tow Souls had us hooked the second we heard it was Quatonic Dreams creation. From what was seen at the Games Developers Conference with the tech demo Kara there are high hopes for this game. The trailer that was played at the Sony press briefing was exactly what we can expect from this developer, greatness. The trailer shows a woman being questioned by a police officer; she does or says nothing as it is being described to the view that she has connection with super natural powers. A SWAT team moves in; in search of this quiet and mysterious girl and the trailer goes black. It cuts to a great montage that describes a bit more about the game. The trailer leaves your blood pumping. This is a game that is unexpected but expected at the same time. It is touching base with elements that have never been brought to gaming to provide players with an experience they have never been giving throughout their gaming lives. There is high hope left for this title and more surprises revolving around the name to come!

Gears of War: Judgment

Just a few days before E3 2012 started a major announcement took over gaming internet news. Gears of War: Judgment was announced and was a prequel to the Gears of War trilogy. The most amazing part about this announcement was that nobody saw it coming. We were given Gears of War 3 last year, not one gamer on the face of the earth could have already expected this announcement to come in. The single player story will follow that of Baird and Cole’s life’s 15 years before the events of the first Gears of War game. If that wasn’t enough a new multiplayer mode was also announced called Overrun. This multiplayer mode is very similar to beast mode except its teams of five against each other in hope of protecting or destroying a generator. This mode mixes the regular run and gun killing of previous Gears games with strategy. How could a game like Gears make such minor changes to bring such a large impact on gamer’s lives?

Watch Dogs

The Watch Dogs game announced by Ubisoft was an exciting new title making its debut at the Ubisoft press conference. As many publishers come out with new titles every year, this new game caught everyone off guard. The game focuses on a future setting where technology is controlled all in one base and that technology everyone uses in that base in controlled by independent companies. The main character of the game is able to manipulate technology to use it to his own advantage to get where he needs to be. A demo was shown with this main character sneaking into a night club. At the door he is able to hack into the world around him cell phones to control the people around him and he gets his way into the club. There is a dramatic cut scene and the viewer learns a little bit more about the story of this new game. What we really liked about the showing of Watch Dogs is that it is a completely original title. The elements shown in Watch Dogs are things that no game has ever done. The game looks promising and it is a sure fire game to stand out in the industry.
