E3 2012: Top 5 Games that Didn’t Make the Show

NoShow 6

While E3 is done and gone, the show still remains fresh in most players’ minds. There were a lot of great announcements and a lot of titles that stole the attention of the majority of the audience. This year’s E3 was nothing sort of impressive; players can’t wait to get their hands on the hit titles that were shown at the show. With that being said there are a few large games that didn’t make it to the show room floor. These games are anticipated but with all the new announcements their absence almost went unnoticed. However these titles are too big to fly completely under the radar. Here is a list of the top 5 games that didn’t show up to gaming’s biggest expo.

Bioshock Infinite

Bioshock Infinite was recently subject to a release date changed. Just a few weeks ago the games release date was pushed back in order to make it the best Bioshock to date and because of that one of 2K Games’ biggest titles went M.I.A this year at the big expo. It had been announced that Infinite would not be shown due to the fact that they are making sure that this game is the best it could be before it is shown off at all. We get why that would make sense but that doesn’t mean we can’t crave more information on the latest installment of the franchise. Bioshock Infinite is set for a February 2013 release date. We can expect more information to be released about it up until then. It’s a shame players had to wait to see more on this anticipated title but hopefully it will prove to be worth the wait.

Homefront 2

The first Homefront game wasn’t exactly the biggest hit however it did rely on a concept that had never really been touched upon in gaming. This was an extremely low budget game, and with that low budget they took it and stretched it as far as it would go. The game turned out well for what it was given and critics actually came down a bit too harsh on this struggling game. With that being said a sequel is said to be in the works except this time it will be handled by Crytek. The game release date isn’t set for this year, or next of the matter, but a 2014 release date. With a game being set to be released that far in the future there no wonder why it didn’t make an appearance at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo. On a side note, Homefront 2 is said to be one of the last Crytek games players will have to ‘pay to play’.

Rainbow 6: Patriots

Ubisoft put on a heck of a show at E3 2012. It had to be the booth that showed the most promising work with titles like Assassin’s Creed III, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Far Cry 3, and of course the new Zombi U game as a focuses. Under all those great titles we still found ourselves searching for Rainbow 6: Patriots on the showroom floor however the title was absent. When this game was first announced it got a lot of deserved attention. The creative director had got off the project which leaves players very nervous if they will ever see a finished version of Rainbow 6: Patriots. Ubisoft has mentioned that they are moving on with the project as well as evolving what they have, however, not seeing it in attendance was a bit nerve racking.

Prey 2

The first Prey game was released long ago. It was one of those unique games; nothing out there really had anything on it. So why didn’t we see it at the show? Not only was Prey 2 delayed but with the possibility of moving to a new studio it’s no wonder why players didn’t hear anything on Prey 2 at the show. The game is caught in the middle of a situation where it is unclear if it will switch developers or not. With all the controversy centered on a game that hasn’t been released for such a long time there is a possibility that the project will be forgotten all together. There is no confirmation if Prey 2 is still in production, if it did switch developers, or if the problems have been solved. For such an original title one could only hope to get more information on it soon.

Brothers in Arms: Furious 4

At least years E3, Brothers in Arms: Furious 4 made its debut and took on a completely new direction with the game. The E3 2012 showroom floor was crowded with popular title but this one was a no show. It seems odd that a game dated for releasing this year wouldn’t have anything new to show fans and it’s a wonder if the game is still supposed to be coming out. This game fell off the radar and hasn’t attempted to catch any new attention since the first showing at E3 2011. From what the trailer had released it looked good, we just wonder where it went.

There were a number of titles that were sought after that did not appear at 2012’s Electronic Entertainment Expo. Games like Beyond Good & Evil 2, Final Fantasy Versus XIII and The Last Guardian didn’t make the show all of different reason along with many more. What games were you most excited to see that didn’t make the show?
