Yesterday via a twitter post Modern Warfare’s creative strategist, Robert Bowling, announced that he is resigning his position at Infinity Ward and will no longer be working with Activision. This came as news to the gaming world and many people are baffled as to why someone with such power over the industry would just get up and leave. Gamers are upset and wonder what is going to happened with their favorite first-person shooter, however, Bowling abandoning his position could be just what Call of Duty and the industry needed.
Robert Bowling is very good at what he does. He has worked on the biggest video game series in history and has done a damn good job of doing it. Bowling leaving Infinity Ward could turn out to be the best thing that happened to the video game industry in quite a while. Call of Duty has been around for years and has seen its fair share of success but it is known that the success of the series will not last forever. Robert Bowling left at the perfect time as the series has most likely hit its peak. Now with Robert Bowling being free from Activision’s grasp there is a high possibility he will be able to start working on a new series of games that bring players as much joy as Call of Duty has.
This might be Robert Bowling’s way of letting the gaming world know that he is far from a one trick pony. With the success and skills he has with making video games we should undoubtedly know that whatever this man works on will not fail to impress us. Rather he will move on to a new series or if he just wants to take a break and enjoy the success the Call of Duty has brought him is unknown. We hope this isn’t the last we see of Bowling in the video game industry because his skill has brought players things that they never witnessed before. Let Call of Duty be the beginning of Robert Bowling’s success and let there be many enjoyable games to come with his help.
