So the Xbox 360 has been in the market for about 7 years. While its goes on to its 8th year, can we expect some sort of announcement of its successor, Xbox Next/720 sometime in 2012? The sources at Edge have said that two major developers such as EA and Ubisoft Montreal have their hands on “target boxes”/developers kit of the next-gen Xbox sent by Microsoft. Also many other undisclosed developers have the same dev-kits as well. Apparently, those “target boxes” have PC components that duplicates the specs of the planned next-gen console.
Edge has also said that a major first party studio which is Sony-owned has stopped their PlayStation 3 development, in order to put their focus on the console’s successor.
Let’s hope for some huge announcements coming from Microsoft and Sony during CES 2012 or E3 2012. If I were to tell both companies about their next-gen console it would be, “Backwards compatibility is a MUST!!”
